Public Archaeological Activities at Yihetou Site in Yiyuan

To promote the deepening and implementation of theme education, on June 10, 2023, the Yihetou Archaeological Team of Shandong Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, together with Zibo Institute of Cultural Relics Protection and Archaeology and Yiyuan County Museum, held a public archaeological activity with the theme of "Exploring the Ancient and Enlightening the Present at the Yihetou Site in Yiyuan". Some primary and secondary school teachers, students, and archaeologists from Yiyuan County actively registered to participate in this activity. The purpose of this event is to allow the public to enter archaeological sites, understand and experience archaeology, lead the public to personally experience the profound historical and cultural heritage of Yiyuan County, and enhance cultural confidence.

       The activity was divided into two parts: a tour of the archaeological site and an archaeological excavation experience. On the morning of June 10th, the public arrived at the Yihetou site. The first activity was a visit to the archaeological site, where Liu Chunyu, a member of the Yihetou site archaeological team from the Shandong Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, introduced the public to the discovery process and overview of the Yihetou site. He also provided detailed explanations of the cultural relics unearthed and the instruments and equipment used in the archaeological excavation, such as Total Station Electronic Distance Measurement Devices, Real-time kinematic, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, and Geological Compass.
